CLINICS
Connor Baxter, a prominent water sports athlete, will host a Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) clinic during the Pro Sayulita SUP OPEN. Raised in the water, Baxter has achieved numerous titles and records in SUP since the age of 16.
The clinic will cover topics such as paddling technique, route planning, race strategies, starts, drafting, buoy turns, and mental game.
On Friday 1, a technical race will take place, addressing aspects like paddling technique, map planning, ocean analysis, beach starts, navigating waves, buoy turns, and strategies for overtaking other competitors.
Saturday and Sunday will feature athlete meetings, race map reviews, strategies, visualization, warm-ups, participation in technical races, and post-race evaluations. Baxter will also provide a general analysis of participation, customize training programs, and conclude with a farewell dinner on Sunday. Only a limited number of participants will have the opportunity to join this unique experience.
Professional surfer and WaterWoman, Luchy Cosoleto, will be hosting a SUP SURF clinic. As a two-time world champion and two-time Pan American champion, Luchy will share her experience and knowledge.
The event will kick off at 9 a.m. at Hotel Sayulinda with a talk to assess the levels and goals of each participant. Topics such as the difference between recreational and competitive surfing, judges’ expectations, and the use of the paddle to enhance maneuvers will be addressed. The importance of warm-up and correct movements will also be emphasized.
Luchy will guide participants on how to analyze waves and develop strategies for the surf session. The clinic will include a surf session filmed with Luchy, followed by video analysis. Additionally, guidance will be provided during the competition to maximize the performance of the participants.
